The 46th Anniversary of Martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman observed in Khartoum

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Khartoum observed the 46th anniversary of martyrdom of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day with due respect and solemnity on 15 August 2021 at the Embassy premises.
The day’s programs began in the morning by hoisting the national flag at half mast by the Chargé d’Affaires Tareq Ahmed in the Chancery in the presence of Embassy officials and members of the Bangladesh community. A special dowa and munajat was offered for the salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members, and continued peace and prosperity of Bangladesh.
According to reports made available to News Dot Africa, the discussion session, held in the evening, was attended by more than two hundred expatriate Bangladeshis. Messages from Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out at the beginning. A video titled “Bangabandhu-Forever In Our Hearts” was screened before the audience.
The discussants paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyred members of his family. They expressed extreme happiness for Bangladesh which is progressing towards achieving the dream of Bangabandhu’s “Sonar Bangla” under the leadership of his able daughter Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They also expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for taking a great decision to open a resident mission in Khartoum.
The Chargé d’Affaires, Tareq Ahmed in his speech elaborated why Bangabandhu is called “Greatest Bangali of all time” citing briefly on the history of Bengal. Only Bangabandhu could materialize the Bangalees’ dream of thousand years to have a map, national flag and national anthem in the history of Bengal, he added.
He urged all to uphold the ideals of the Bangabandhu and join the daughter of Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her efforts to establish honesty, justice and value based society and a poverty free prosperous Bangladesh.
