TALLEN CALLS FOR EMPLOYMENT FOR WOMEN TO SUSTAIN FAMILY

The Minister of Women Affiars, Dame Pauline Tallen has called for engagement of women in gainful employment.
Dame Tallen made the call when she played host to the acting Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, Alhaji Abubakar Nuhu on Monday, February 22nd, 2021.
“Gainful employment for one woman tantamount to employment for a whole house hold because of the multiplier effect”, she expressed.
The minister charged the DG to include the interest of women and children in the activities of the Directorate, saying ‘women are hardworking and will always strive to deliver on their schedulle’.
She said that her Ministry has enjoyed good working relationship with the past leadership of the Directorate, adding that she will strive to maintain the relationship between the two organizations.
The acting Director General who led top management staff of the Directorate on a courtesy visit to the Ministry said that the purpose of the visit is to realign the programmes of the Directorate with those of the ministry.
He said that the management of the Directorate believes that working close with the ministry will enabled the them to achieve the mandate for which the Directorate was set up.
The DG revealed that the Directorate has a lot of programmes lined up for women.
Earlier the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Ambassador Anthonia Ekpa thanked the Acting DG for the visit and assured him that the Ministry is ready to collaborate with his Directorate.
