Senator George Akume’s appointment as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF),p by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on June 4, 2023, marked a significant milestone in his illustrious career. As the 21st SGF, Akume has brought his wealth of experience as a former governor, senator, and minister to the role.

Since the assuming office, Akume has been instrumental in fostering federal-state government interactions and enhancing transparency in governance. His advisory support to the president has been invaluable, drawing from his extensive background in politics and public service.

Akume’s achievements are a testament to his dedication and commitment to public service. His profile is dotted with numerous awards and recognition, including the “Most Distinguished Alumnus” award from the University of Ibadan Alumni Association and the “Distinguished Humanist Award.”

As SGF, Akume has continued to demonstrate his leadership prowess, working tirelessly to promote the interests of the federal government and the Nigerian people. His appointment has been widely welcomed, with many praising his integrity, wisdom, and experience.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Dr. George Akume emphasizes the importance of focusing on critical areas of the economy, including agriculture, infrastructural development, education, health sector , science and innovation, security interalia , which is in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Having Sen Dr Akume in this administration is a moral booster, and a hope to the youths, for better Nigeria as Akume always emphasises inclusivity to carry women and youths along. The just George as he is popularly called is as a result, evidence in his unbiased treatment of people that come across him without sentiment of religion, region, or tribal dichotomy.
