The Senate has tasked the newly confirmed service Chiefs to ensure it works hard to put an end to insurgency and banditry in the country.
The Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan made the call when he confirmed the appointment of the Chief of Defence and the Service Chiefs.
According to Lawan, the Senate expects excellence and determination from the newly appointed Chiefs, stating that “it is really disheartening to see a whole three hundred and seventeen students abducted and taken away on motorcycles without any security checks.
It is also sad to note that insurgency and banditry has become a lucrative business in the country and there are individuals benefiting from it to the detriment of the citizens, he added.
Lawan also tasked all service chiefs to ensure that there is inter-agency corporation among sister agencies to discharge their duties professionally to salvage the situation in the country.
The Senate President assured them that, the Senate is solidly behind them and promises to do all within its power to support them in achieving success in the fight.
Recall that President Mohammadu Buhari on the 10th of February, 2021 forwarded the names of the new Chief of Defence staff and Service Chiefs to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
