RT. HON OSSAI CONCLUDES YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SCHEME

….,…Vows to implement capacity-building projects on cosmetology

The Ndokwa Representative, RT Hon. Dr. Ossai Nicholas Ossai has successfully concluded youth and women training and empowerment on cosmetology and health services support, and vowed to implement more human capital development and capacity building projects in line with his outlined legislative agenda.

The graduation ceremony which held in Kwale, Delta State on the 24 of December, 2020 experienced a massive turnout as dignitaries all around the country stormed the event.

“To the glory of God, we have just concluded another set of training and empowerment project designed to retrain and provide requisite tools and equipment to youths and women of Ndokwa Nation who were nominated and trained through the NDE community skills acquisition initiative in various aspects of cosmetology including fashion design and tailoring, barbing , hairdressing and beautification”.

The empowerment project which also saw the unique presentation of motorcycles to some hospitals and Health Centres across Ndokwa Nation to help facilitate their operations and overcome transportation challenges due to the terrain and other contingencies became the first of its kind in the history of the constituency.

At the end of the training and empowerment which saw over 100 beneficiaries go home with requisite tools for Barbing, hairdressing, fashion design and tailoring, and brand new power- motorcycles as starter packs for start-ups and expansion of existing SMEs.

Recalling, however, that this particular training and empowerment project is the fifth in the series this year, haven implemented four others, under the Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai constituency economic development and empowerment hub projects, which covered training and empowerment on cosmetology (Soap making and Hand Sanitizers, phase one and two with over 80 beneficiaries, empowerment for small business survival and growth with more than 600 beneficiaries, training and empowerment on horticulture value chain (Telfaria and Tomato processing) of over 100 farmers selected from across the constituency.

Hon. Ossai, speaking at the event,
“I use the opportunity of the program to encourage the youths and women to remain peaceful, focused and committed in their various endeavours. I also commended the enthusiasm and entrepreneurship spirit of the participants, whom I strongly believe will make us proud and soon become employers of labour”.

Encouraging the beneficiaries, I encourage you all to continue to implement constituency development projects in line with my promise of quality representation with durable results. To ensure proper utilisation of these tools, equipment and facilities, our Constituency Projects Monitoring and Evaluation team will conduct regular guided tours of the shops and places of work of beneficiaries to carry out further needs assessment and business progress reports. In the coming months, as may be necessary based on monitoring field reports, our Constituency Technical Team on human capital development and entrepreneurial capacity building will be constituting the beneficiaries into cooperative and partnership focal groups help to drive the business expansion needs of the trainees”.
