PSC, Police Trust Fund forge New partnership to rescue the future of Nigeria’s Security Architecture

The leadership of the Police Service Commission yesterday, Wednesday, August 21st, met with the visiting leadership of the Police Trust Fund and decided to forge a productive partnership which the two Organisations confirmed ” is critical to the future of the nation’s security architecture”.
The two Institutions noted that they play vital roles in ensuring that the Nigeria Police Force is not only equipped but prepared to meet the challenges of modern policing.
Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd, mni who led the PSC team that included, DIG Taiwo Lakanu rtd, Commissioner and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary, to the meeting, declared that the Commission is ready to work with the Fund to restore the dignity of the Nigeria Police Force.
DIG Argungu noted that without the Police Force, there will be no PSC nor the PTF stressing that both Institutions must partner to see a new and vibrant Police Force worthy of the respect and endorsement of the citizens.
The Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, in his opening remarks noted that the focus of the Fund ” is on providing the resources needed to enhance the welfare, training and operational capabilities of Police Officers” adding that “our initiatives, such as upgrading Police Colleges and Institutions, deploying power solutions to stations and barracks and raising funds through public and private partnerships are all geared towards this goal”.
Mr. Shied said however that the Fund recognizes that these efforts must be complemented by the Commission’s work in maintenaning the highest standards of discipline and professionalism within the Force.
He added that the partnership is therefore crucial in ensuring that these resources are utilised effectively and that the Officers are well equipped to serve and protect our communities.
The Executive Secretary said the Fund looks forward to strengthening the collaboration between the two Institutions, stressing that “together we can create a Police Force that not only meets the expectations of
our people but exceed them”
He thanked the Chairman of PSC for the opportunity to discuss how “we can work together to achieve our shared goals” adding I am confident that our combined efforts will lead to a more secure and prosperous Nigeria”
