Police officer dismissed from service in CRS

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba has dismissed a Police Constable Okoi Liyomo, who was tried and found wanting for assault and battery in Cross River state.
The incident occurred some weeks ago when the said officer was caught in a viral video using the side of a cutlass to flog a man which gathered a lot of traction and generated several reactions on social media.
This inhumane act which attracted the attention of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, and the Force Management Team, led to an investigation being carried out and Liyomo was then suspended.
PC Okoi was found guilty after trial and his dismissal announced during a Live broadcast on Monday, August 8, 2022 Nigeria Police Force headquarters, ABUJA.
