PHED official electrocuted by High Tension in Calabar

News Dot Africa Correspondent has reported an official working with Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) was electrocuted by a high tension cable in Calabar recently.
The incident which occurred on Thursday, October 27, 2022, evening at the entrance of the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, opposite Airport Police Station, Calabar saw men of the Nigerian Air Force and the PHED come to the man’s rescue.
In a 15 seconds video obtained by CrossRiverWatch, the official in his gear is seen dangling from the high-tension cable just a few meters from 305 Special Mobility Group of the Nigerian Airforce, Calabar’s checkpoint, and the PHED’s patrol vehicle number 019 is sighted parked under the high-tension as other officials try to bring him down”, the report read in part.
However, “the victim did not die, he was rushed to the hospital and he is still alive”, a source said.
The incident has now rendered the Airport and Atimbo community in total darkness.
This unfortunately is the second time in less than two months that a staff of the PHED has been electrocuted by a high-tension wire.
