Passengers Stranded As Fire Disrupts Flights At Port Harcourt Airport

A fire outbreak on the runway of Port Harcourt International Airport, on Saturday evening, reportedly disrupted flight activities.

News Annex reported that the fire hindered a Max Air flight from taking off while an Arik flight had to return to base.

Also, a Dana flight from Abuja to Port Harcourt had to return back to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, as it could not land due to the fire according to reports.
Although the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), is yet to disclose the cause of the fire, sources say it was a bush fire.

A source said the airport was closed for the smoke to dissipate.

Miss Victoria Nkong, one of the affected passengers on one of the airlines also confirmed the incident. She lamented the delay which she said had earlier been because of bad weather.

According to her, ” I have been here since early in the morning, first our flight was delayed with the explanation that the weather was bad then this big fire later erupted”.

Passengers stranded at the airport include Harrysong, Skiibi, Efe Warri Boy, Comedian Forever and Harry songs Manager Africhique.
