… Charges Armourers, Unit Commanders on effective management of Arms and Ammunition

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR has charged all Armourers and Unit Commanders on the need to discharge their duties in line with the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedures and tandem with global best practices.
The CG stated this while presiding a one-day strategic meeting held with all Armourers and Unit Commanders from various formations across the nation at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
The CG emphasized the urgency of adhering to the principles and fundamental instructions on policies guiding the deployment of arms and ammunition.
He however warned that the management would deal decisively with any Armourer or Unit Commander caught in the act of mismanaging Arms and Ammunition.
“This strategic meeting is very apt and central to enhance the corporate and effective management of arms and ammunition in the Corps”.
“We will not open our eyes and let any indiscriminate behaviour pass”.
” Our eagle eyes are watching you very closely and in your interest; if you are involved in mishandling arms and ammunition you better desist with immediate effect or you will be shown the way out”, he urged
In furtherance, the Commandant General has directed that records of movements of all arms and ammunition must be adequately kept while timely briefings should be channelled regularly to the State Commandants and National Commandant on Armament.
The CG noted that armourers and UCs must have passed through the crucibles of weapon training and their appointments must be from general duty officers.
While assuring the attendees of his administration’s commitment to continuous training and retraining at the various Training Schools this year, the CG reiterated that the meeting became necessary to re-echo the stance of the Corps and enhance her overall performance to effectively deliver on the mandate of the Corps.
Delivering a welcome address: Commandant Armament, Dr Michael Enogela Adagayi lauded the CG for keeping to his promise by acquiring modern weapons and related components for improved quality of service in internal security operations.
He called on all armourers to uphold professionalism at all times and ensure that weapons procured by the government to assist the Corps in executing its mandate of service are not found in the hands of non-state actors.
Commandant Adagayi assured the management of the Corps that as armourers, they are committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, prudence and professionalism in the deployment, management and utilisation of arms and ammunition and related components for the overall interest of the service and the nation at large.
