ONDO 2024: INEC Chairman Commends Preparations, Assures Voters Of Improved Logistics, Security

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has expressed satisfaction with Ondo State’s preparations for the November 16 governorship election, describing them as “impressive.” During his week-long Readiness Assessment visit, Yakubu inspected offices in Akure North and Akure South Local Government Areas, confirming that essential items are in place.
The INEC Boss has assured citizens of Ondo State of
– Improved Logistics: Yakubu emphasized INEC’s focus on enhancing logistics for prompt polling unit openings and result management transparency, addressing concerns from previous elections .
– Security Measures: The chairman stressed the importance of safeguarding officials and security personnel, particularly in challenging terrains, with measures like life vests for riverine areas.
– Sensitive Materials: Ballot papers and result sheets are set to arrive on Tuesday, with inspections scheduled for Wednesday, ensuring transparency and accountability.
– Distribution Schedule: Materials will be distributed to local governments starting Thursday, prioritizing farthest locations, and then to wards and Registration Area Centers (RACs), on Friday.
Yakubu also met with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to review security strategies for a peaceful and secure election environment. With INEC’s dedication to transparency and security, Ondo State is on track for a successful governorship election.
