NSCDC Collaborates with KAS to train Operatives on Peace and Conflict Resolution Techniques

In furtherance of the commitment to ensure a peaceful Nigeria through collaborative efforts and reduced conflicts among security agencies and the public, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) have organized a 3-Day Seminar on Inter-Agency Collaboration and Coordination and Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR.
The training witnessed the attendance of operatives of the Nigeria Police, the Armed Forces, NSCDC and Correctional Service.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, which took place in Abuja, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, emphasized the importance of interagency collaboration and peaceful coexistence as a nation.
The CG said it is quite obvious that no agency can effectively address the emerging security threats in the country alone; therefore, effective collaboration and coordination are very essential.
The NSCDC helmsman stated that collaboration among security personnel is crucial for effective information and intelligence sharing, enhanced response, building of trust, improved public safety, and promoting peace and stability, among others.
He explained that the workshop offers a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in building stronger partnerships and resolving conflicts peacefully.
“As an agency, we recognize our critical role in community peace, stabilization and conflict resolution; hence, the need to explore innovative approaches to Alternative Dispute Resolution, leveraging our diverse expertise to promote social cohesion can not be overemphasized, he added”.
Speaking earlier, the country representative of KAS, who was also represented by Mr Lukas Laible, explained that KAS is part of the German political foundation to promote democracy, good governance, and the rule of law and foster good relationships between the Republic of Germany and its host community.
Mr Lukas said the seminar is one of the interventions of the organization that bring about an improvement in the peace process in Nigeria.
“KAS is conducting a training Centre in five of the six geographical zones of Nigeria in the area of interagency collaboration, coordination and cooperation, he added”.
He encouraged the participants to maximize the opportunities available at the seminar as they will serve as multipliers of the gains of the programme.
