NSCDC Boss AUDI reinstates Corps commitment to Safe School Project… Commemorates International Day of Education

As the world celebrates the 6th International Day of Education on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, the Commandant General of the NSCDC Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR has once again used the occasion to restate the Corps commitment to the Federal government’s Safe School Initiative
calling on all the stakeholders to leverage on the opportunity and be on the same page.
The CG’s message to the public is delivered by the Commander of the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre ( NSSRCC) Commandant Hammed Abodunrin PhD.fdc where the CG also revealed that the Centre in collaboration with the NSCDC will take the idea of security, peace and conflict management to all schools in Nigeria.
” The peaceful co-existence and safety of the schools in the country remains paramount to the NSCDC and the Centre and the message of security, peace and conflict management will be taken to all the schools. The school environment is for learning and not for religious nor ethnic conflict but a centre for Unit.”
” The Civil Defence, the Centre and all the other relevant stakeholders are to be on the same page and also leverage on the need to ensure peaceful and sustainable development to our schools which is part of the objectives of the International Day of Education.
Personnel of the NSCDC have undergone specialized training and have been deployed to various communities and schools for proper engagement largely centred on protection.
Schools are hereby also employed to key into this safe School Response by registering with the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre NSSRCC in order for the centre to know their location and address by visiting www. NSSRCC.gov.ng.
The International Day of Education is observed annually on January 24.
The date was adopted in 2018 by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate the role of education in bringing global peace and sustainable development to the world.
