Nsa emerges as new NUJ Chairman, Cross River State

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Cross River State has a new Council Chairman in the person of Comrade Gill Nsa, who is a correspondent with The Nation Newspaper.

In a keenly contested polls carried out in the State Office of the NUJ, Nsa amassed 76 votes to beat his opponent Comrade Okar Ibor of Nigerian Chronicle, who raked in 50 votes.

The National Vice President in charge of South-South, Comrade John Agese after the collation and counting of entire votes cast declared Comrade Nsa the winner.

Other positions contested were that of the State Secretary which was won by Solomon Azu of the Nigerian Chronicle after pipping his closest rival, Mazi Judex Okoro of the Sun Newspaper and former Chairman of Correspondent Chapel with 64 votes to 59 votes.

Archibong Bassey of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) also defeated Veronica Ogar of the State Ministry of Information with 85 votes to 41 clinch the seat of the State Financial Secretary while the position of State Assistant Secretary, Vice-Chairman and Treasurer were returned unopposed.

Announcing the winners, the Vice President of NUJ, Zone F and Zonal Secretary, Opaka Dokubo and John Angese respectively declared Nsa Gill Chairman and others were returned elected.
148 delegates were accredited and 128 delegates voted with 3 voided votes.
