Nobleteens Africa Awards Participants In the 2019 Edition of Girls In ICT

In commemoration of the International Girls in ICT day 2019; and to bridge the gap between girls and ICT, Nobleteens Africa organised a four days ICT camp for teenage girls in Abuja from 24-27 June, 2019.
The event, which started with a class session at the national women development centre on 24 – 26 of June ended with a grand finale at Transcorp Hilton Hotel on the 27th of June, 2019, where the awards were given to deserving participants.
This year’s event which was themed “Girls in ICT Connect”, had participants from various secondary schools, exposed to the importance of ICT and how they can use it in solving problems. During the class session participants learnt web designing and programming.
In her speech, Mrs. Nonny Ugboma Executive Secretary MTN Foundation and a speaker at the event,  congratulated participants for taking part in the exercise. She encouraged the participants to always be bold and prepared.
Mrs Hafisat Lawal, Consumer Affairs Relations, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), encouraged the participants on being productive and mindful of what they do on the internet and advised on the good use of ICT. She warned the girls about revealing confidential information to unknown persons through internet.
The Director General, National Centre for Women Development, Barrister Mary Ekpere, said the event was a wonderful and laudable event which encouraged young girls and brought them close to ICT and the future.
Awards and gift were also given to the best participants in the web design  and programming categories.
Web designing:
First position, Precious Atakulu,  from Divine Love college.
Second position, Asuama Etimabasi from Divine Love college.
Third position, Nzegbuma Immaculata, from Divine Love College.
Programming:
First position, Ummi Salma Ibrahim, from GSS Tudun – Wada
Second position, Christopher Jada Joy, a school leaver
Third position Joy Mamman, from GSS Tudun – Wada.
In an interview with Mr. Uchechukwu, the  Vice Principal Academics, Divine Love College, said the students on their own are very resourceful and ready to learn. He encouraged other students not to give up but to put more effort.
