NIS COMMISSIONS FORWARD OPERATION BASE (FOB) IN ILASE, OGUN STATE

The Nigeria Immigration Service has commissioned a Forward Operation Base (FOB), at Ilase in Ogun State, in an effort to strengthen border security in Nigeria.
According to the spokesperson of NIS, DCI Sunday James, the Ilase Forward Operation Base, which is part of the Border Management Reforms embarked upon by the Service was commissioned by the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, MFR, on 22nd January, 2021.
Speaking, the CGI restated the commitment of his administration to ensuring that Forward Operation Bases are established in all our border frontiers for effective border policing and Patrol.
He disclosed that the FOB will complement the fight against irregular migration in form of Smuggling of Migrants (SOM), Trafficking in Person (TIP) and other trans-border crimes. With this project in place at Ilase, Ogun State, he said activities at Idi-Iroko area and its environs as well as other patrol bases will be centrally coordinated.
Like the 12 other FOBs already established by the Service, the Ilase Forward Operation Base is equipped with modern communication gadgets and well-furnished accommodations for operatives to be able to maintain 24/7 patrol and surveillance activities along the nation’s border.
