The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, led a delegation to meet with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Benin Republic, Eleonore Yayi Ladekan, in Cotonou on Monday.
Yakub emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to closer cooperation with Benin Republic, particularly in language learning and exchange. He noted that language barriers hinder progress and that NTAC aims to facilitate effective learning and acquisition of English and French languages.
The NTAC plans to deploy English teachers to Benin Republic and learn French in return. This initiative seeks to bring down the linguistic divide between the two countries and enhance bilateral engagements in trade, services, and cultural exchange.
Minister Ladekan expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s unwavering support and acknowledged the positive impact of NTAC’s initiatives on capacity development in Benin Republic. She also commended the establishment of the Nigerian International School in Cotonou.
The visit demonstrates Nigeria’s dedication to African nations, as acknowledged by Minister Ladekan, who extended Benin Republic’s gratitude to the Government of President Tinubu.
