Nigeria Hails Ghana for Rebuilding and Handing Over Mission Property

The Nigerian government has praised Ghana for rebuilding and returning property to the High Commission of Nigeria in Accra, Ghana. This gesture comes after the June 20, 2020, attack on Nigeria’s mission residential buildings, where unknown persons used a bulldozer to demolish the building.
Recall that the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama who was in Charge then, condemned the attacks as “criminal and outrageous” and demanded urgent action from Ghanaian authorities. The Nigerian government engaged with Ghanaian authorities to stop the attacks.
Ghana’s responded promising to rebuild the demolished block of four-bedroom flats following high-level talks. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Mrs. Shirley Botchway, handed over the property.
Upon receipt of the rebuilt property, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs applauded Ghana’s gesture, calling it a “commendable development” and “symbol of Ghana’s commitment to strengthening ties” between the two countries. The reconstructed building represents cooperation and mutual respect.
The Keys were received by Amb. Chimezie Ogu, Director, Foreign Service Academy, Lagos, representing the Nigerian Government at a handing over ceremony led by Mrs. Shirley Botchway, Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
