Nigeria condoles with Tanzania over passing of former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi

The Federal Government of Nigeria has condoled with the Government and People of the United Republic of Tanzania over the passing of former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi on Thursday, 29th February, 2024.
A statement signed by Francisca K. Omayuli (Mrs), Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday noted that the late President was an African Elder Statesman and will be remembered as an astute and influential politician who contributed significantly to laying the foundation for Tanzania’s economic development.
“Nigeria stands with Tanzania in this period of grief. May the soul of the departed former President rest in peace and may God grant the bereaved family, the Government and the good people of the United Republic of Tanzania the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Francisca said.

Ali Hassan Mwinyi (1925-2024), Tanzania’s second president who pushed through tough economic and political reforms that transformed the East Africa nation from socialism to an open economy and a multi-party democracy. He was president from 1985 to 1995.(Google)
