NIEE Abuja Calls for Stronger Commitment to Sustainable Environmental Solutions

The Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE), Abuja Chapter, has emphasized the need for stronger professional commitment to sustainable environmental solutions. This call was made during the institution’s 2025 Public Lecture, Induction, and Annual General Meeting, held on November 25, 2025.
Chapter Chairman, Uche Patrick-Obikile, highlighted the crucial role environmental engineers play in tackling challenges such as waste management, renewable energy, and climate resilience. She urged newly inducted members to uphold professional ethics and contribute actively to the institution’s development.
Keynote speaker, Dr. Nureni Ogunyemi, National Chairman of NIEE, stressed that a resilient economy cannot be built on weak environmental practices, and engineers must drive innovation and champion sustainable systems.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Valerie Agberagba, called for innovative environmental engineering solutions to strengthen Nigeria’s resilience, highlighting the need to address climate impacts, reduce gas emissions, and promote clean energy and water security.
