NGIJ Moves to Reposition, Dissolves Executive Committee

In a strategic bid to reposition for improved effectiveness, the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has dissolved the Executive Committee of the guild led by Wale Abideen.

The Guild dissolved the executive committee that served in Acting capacity for over one year during the Virtual Congress attended by over 40 members nationwide on Sunday, June 21, 2020.

The Special Congress chaired by Mr Israel Bolaji also nominated a 5-member Electoral Committee to conduct the Guild’s fresh elections to fill positions as provided for in its newly Amended Constitution.

The Electoral Committee consists of Abiodun Abdulkareem of Focus TV and Rowland Olonishuwa of Herald Newspaper. Other members are Ikem Ifeoma, Tope Sunday and Solanke Taiwo.

The Congress mandated the committee to work out modalities to ensure smooth conduct of the Guild ‘s election within one month.

The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) is a registered association of journalists in Nigeria with special interest in Investigative Journalism

Some of its flagship projects include the State Governance Assessment Report (GAR) which it conducted in Kogi and Bayelsa states respectively which were unveiled to the general public.
