The International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI)  has made preliminary assessment on the just concluded governorship and state assembly elections, in which it said that the people of Nigeria will ultimately determine the credibility of the elections.
IRI/ NDI observers mission made this at Abuja in a media briefing on Monday 11, March 2019.
The missions which collaborated closely with the European Union (EU) observers mission and Nigeria citizens observer groups  appreciated Nigerians for the hospitality and cooperation it received from all  especially voters, government officials, the chairman and members of  the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and polling officials, party members and candidates, citizens elections observers, civil activists and members of the National Peace Committee (NPC).
“NDI/IRI  therefore states its recommendations to further strengthen the credibility of electoral processes and safeguard the Nigeria’s Democratic gains. These recommendations were built on those presented in the   February 25th,  2019 statement for the presidential and National Assembly elections” Dr Christopher Fomunyeu said.
The IRI/NDI mission stressed that the statement is preliminary in nature. It recognized that, ultimately, it is the people of Nigeria who will determine the credibility of the elections, and assured that they  will continue to watch the remaining phases of the electoral process, including the announcement of official results and swearing in of newly elected official.
