NCAA APPROVES OPERATION OF BOEING 737-700, EQUIVALENT FOR ANAMBRA AIRPORT

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved the upgrade of the Anambra International Cargo Airport to Aerodrome Resume and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Category 6 to operate the Boeing 737-700 or its equivalent conducted by the Aerodrome Safety Inspectors.
A letter signed by the NCAA director-general, Captain Musa Nuhu, dated January 24, 2022, with reference NCAA/AC/015/Vol.1/22/185 and titled “Approval to operate Boeing 737-700 or its equivalent on Aerodrome Resume and Fire Fighting Category 6 at Anambra International Cargo Airport, Umueri” conveyed the news to the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.
“The onsite assessment of the existing facilities and personnel of the station revealed that the level of protection is appropriate to and commensurate with aerodrome resume and fire fighting category 6 operation.
“The Anambra State government is, by the approval, requested to ensure compliance with the requirements for the operating Category 6 as stipulated in Nig.CARs Part 12.6.15.1 – 12.6.16.11 and Aerodrome Standards Manual 13.2.1 to 13.2.2.46
“The Anambra State government is also required to ensure strict adherence to safety, security and COVID-19 requirements at the airport at all times,” NCAA stated.
