The highly anticipated 20th edition of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games is just around the corner and the excitement is palpable with over 1,200 athletes set to compete in 13 exhilarating sporting events, this biennial event is a celebration of unity and collaboration within the oil and gas sector. Scheduled to take place in the city of Abuja, at the package B in Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The games are a reflection of the industry’s long-standing commitment to teamwork, wellness, and camaraderie among its workforce.

The leadership said that the support and encouragement from the industries have created a ripple effect in our sports community, and we can expect nothing but exceptional performances from our athletes in this upcoming competition. “Let us all come together and show our solidarity for the oil and gas industry’s and our amazing athletes as they compete in the competition.” They added.
The chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Engineer Suleiman Sulaiman, has expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s event, stating that it will be a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship and unity within the industry. The games are set to kick off on the 8th of February and will run until the 14th of February, 2026, with the exception of the snooker competition which will take place at the E12 club in Wuse. The golf events have already been completed, adding to the anticipation and eagerness for the main program.
Mr. Sulaiman disclosed that many renowned companies from the oil and gas sector will be participating in the games, including TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Selattyn Energy, Oando,, Shell, Nigeria LNG. (NLNG), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Renaissance, Chevron,Aredel, and ND Western. He said this year’s event is set to be a true showcase of talent, teamwork, and dedication from the oil and gas industry’s finest athletes.
Engr. Sulaiman went ahead to intimate that the games will feature a wide range of sports, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and compete against each other from athletics to football, volleyball to badminton, squash to tennis. Table tennis to swimming, scrabble to snooker, “there will be something for everyone to enjoy.” This diverse range of sports not only adds excitement to the event but also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle among the participants.
The chairman also said that one of the highlights of the competition will be the awards ceremony, where trophies, team honours, and individual awards will be presented to outstanding performers.
