NAC 2023: Stakeholders End Event With A Call To Transform Marketers Into Nation Builders

As an industry that influences the lives of almost every person on the planet, advertising has a vital role to play in determining whether the world will succeed in its transition to a drive robust sustainable society.
The National Advertising Conference has ended with a call to transform marketers into nation builders.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Tunji Adeyinka said, the focus of this year’s conference is on the contribution of advertising to Nigeria’s economy and to also rebrand Nigeria’s image among the comity of nations.
“Three key issues are picked from the last National Advertising Conference which is ‘determining the size of the industry, ‘the contribution to GDP’ and ‘the multiplier effect.The multiplier effect means that for every kobo spent in advertising, it is translated into a certain amount in the economy, then we decided that we would start a committee on that assignment that will put together the contribution of this industry to GDP and the multiplier effect to GDP and also the social factors and other contributions that the industry have made.” He added.
Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, Director-General ARCON emphasized the crucial role of marketing and ethics in nation building.
As an industry, this is part of our activities for the 2023 National Advertising Conference to build our dear Nigeria and build communication for it.
“Research has shown that marketing communication as an economic activity is strategic to the growth and development of our nation’s economy. It is the driver of a healthy and thriving society. Scaling up the advertising regulatory framework to stimulate economic development, inclusive growth, wealth creation and development of local talents has been a major priority of ARCON.
The two-day conference had in attendance Dignitaries from government, public and private sector organisations. Marketing Communications professionals and scholars from the various sectors and specializations of the marketing communications industry also converged to share ideas, knowledge and perspectives on the new trends and challenges that shape the profession and business of marketing communications across the world.
Highlights of the last day of the conference include break out sessions on Transforming Marketers into Nation builders, Unlocking the Market for SMEs – Funding and Marketing, Grooming talents for the IMC industry, The new university curriculum and its implications for the IMC industry etc.
