The Program Coordinator, Cross River Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Program (CR-RAAMP), Engr. Charles Okongor, alongside the Commissioner for International Development Corporation, Dr Inyang Asibong, paid a working visit to the leadership of the Cross River State House of Assembly as the State prepares for the commencement of the RAAMP activities.

Engr. Okongor in his remark pointed that Cross River State submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the World Bank to participate in the implementation of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) and at such met all the requirements for the implementation, whilst Dr Asibong concluded that the visit was to keep the legislature abreast with the RAAMP activities as they approach full commencement.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonas, and Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Roads and Infrastructure, Rt. Hon. Matthew Olory, both took turns to express their readiness to provide the necessary legislative support to fastrack the developmental benefits of the program. Also in attendance were Rt. Hon. Regina Anyogo, Hon. Itam Abang and Hon Maria Akwaji who all assured of the support of the legislature.

The Cross River Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Program (CR-RAAMP) is a World Bank-assisted program aimed at rehabilitating and constructing rural roads for the evacuation of agricultural produce in the State; and also the construction of agro-logistics hubs across the State for the promotion and marketing of cocoa, oil palm and rice value chains.
