Life of every Nigerian living in Diaspora is important- FGN

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), has said that the life of every Nigerian in diaspora is important to the country and everything will be done within the capacity of the FGN to secure justice for those that are maltreated.
The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri – Erewa stated this in her welcome address on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Abuja during the National Diaspora day 2019 conference.
Abike said that President Muhammad Buhari has mandated the ministry of foreign affairs and the office of the secretary to the Government of the federation, to demand justice when ever a Nigerian is unjustly treated in Diaspora.
She thanked the president for the establishment of Nigerian in Diaspora commission, there by making this year national diaspora day a glamorous one.
She encouraged every one in diaspora to leverage on the opportunities and help in building a great Nigeria and that Nigerians in Diaspora (NIDO) should foster unity among members. “We all have to ensure that the diaspora day is becomes like a national day in Nigeria”, she added.
The Chairman asked for one minute silence in honour of Miss Elizabeth Ndubisi Chukwu who was murdered in South Africa during a conference, and other Nigerians whom have died in diaspora. She said Miss Elizabeth Ndubisi Chukwu was buried yesterday in her home town in Anambra state.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha encouraged Nigerians in diaspora to always be patriotic and noted that the contribution of Nigerians in diaspora to the Nation is great. He emphasized on the role of the diaspora in the development of the nation and also said that it was estimated by world bank that over 25 billion was remitted into the bank by the Nigerians in diaspora. Which some of the money have been invested into estate development, building of schools and other key infrastructure in Nigeria.
