Lagos – Ibadan Rail Line To be Completed By The End of June 2019, says Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has said that the Lagos – Ibadan rail line should be completed by the end of June 2019.
The Minister said this on Friday, May 10, 2019, during the routine inspection tour of the Lagos-Ibadan railway project.
Addressing journalists on the pace of work on the Lagos-Ibadan railway, he stated that of 156 km, about 123 Kilometers have been covered, adding that it remains 33 Kilometers of track laying.
“We are at Kilometer 123 remaining 33 Kilometers so we know we will get there before the end of the month.
“It is just 33 Kilometers and they lay 3 Kilometers per day which means in 12 or 13 days they should be either at Ibadan. We are running Ibadan outskirt but we should be at the end of the station by the end of this month”, he revealed.
Speaking, the Director Railway, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Mohammed Babakobi said that the track laying was almost completed and very near to the station with about 20 Kilometers away from Ibadan station.
“We expect that in the next few weeks, we should have laid this track up to the station at Ibadan which is the terminal point of the Lagos-Ibadan alignment”, Mohammed added
