The Global Health Volunteer Community (GHVC) and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), on Saturday, December 10, 2022 commemorated the 2022 International Volunteers Day celebration with a symposium.
The theme of this year’s international volunteers day celebration was ‘Solidarity Through Volunteerism’.
Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Dr Inyang Asibong, who spoke on behalf of the Cross River State Government lauded GHVC and YALI for the initiative, adding that the Governor Ben Ayade-led Administration in the State places a premium on volunteerism.
Dr. Asibong said the theme of this year’s celebration was aptly captured, as it amplifies the call for volunteerism as a catalyst for unity and sustainable development through voluntary activities.
The symposium was held at the American Corner of the Senator Rose Oko Development Center, Calabar, and had in attendance speakers and representatives from over twenty Non-Governmental Organizations who took turns to speak in support of volunteerism as a global affair that concerns nations.
Highlights of the occasion was presentation of awards of honour to outstanding personalities in their various areas of endeavor towards making the planet a better place.
