INEC Sensitises Political Parties on campaign finance and expenses, ahead of 2024 Ondo State Governorship Election

Preparatory to the forthcoming 2024 Ondo State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Ondo State has today, 8th August 2024 organized a workshop to sensitize the political parties on the necessity to report campaign finance and expenses.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC Ondo State Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola in her welcome remark emphasized that since the political campaign in public has commenced on 19th June 2024 in the State, it is imperative to acquit the Candidates and auditors of political parties to the rules guiding the campaign finance and expenses and ensure that political parties comply with the procedures as stipulated in the law.
Mrs. Babalola reiterated that the holistic expenses of each political party for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state must not exceed One Billion Naira as stipulated in section 88 (3) of the Electoral Act 2022. A violation of this section shall attract heavy sanction.
The participants drawn from all the 17 Political Parties contesting the Governorship Election in the state, include the contestants and the political party auditors in the state.
