Inauguration of National Executive Council Marks Milestone for UNYA-NG

The United Nations Youth Association- Nigeria (UNYA-NG) celebrated a historic moment with the official inauguration of its National Executive Council (NEC) members, held on Saturday, in the Federal Capital territory, Abuja, Nigeria.
The inauguration marked a significant step forward in fostering youth engagement, empowerment, and advocacy for sustainable development.
The newly appointed members of the National Executive Council were sworn in, pledging their commitment to the principles and goals of the United Nations.
Hon. Ahmed Buhari, the guest speaker, at the event, highlighted the role of youths in Safeguarding the Peace of Nigeria to Ensure Sustainable Development and the importance of harnessing the energy and ideas of the youth for positive change. “The development of every Nation requires collective efforts, if the system is not working, then we should fix it” he stated.
Buhari also urged the youths to be active and participate in meaningful engagements that will contribute towards a better future.
While congratulating the inductees, the guest speaker described the historic event as symbolizing a new chapter in the collective efforts to address global challenges. “The UNYA-NG National Executive Council is poised to be a catalyst for meaningful impact and innovation,” he added.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Amb. Eze Ihechukwumere Ezekiel, the President of UNYA-NG, described the organization as a great platform to learn about the United Nations and get other youth involved in understanding and sharing the ideals enshrined in the United Nations Charter and other universal principles.
According to him, “UNYA-Nigeria provides fertile ground for youth empowerment, education, networking and generating public opinion to support the work of the United Nations in building a better world for all.”
In her closing remarks, Hon. Khadija Shehu Bamalli, Secretary General UNYA-NG urged all NEC members to navigate the challenges ahead with resilience, innovation, and a shared dedication to the ideals of the United Nations.
“I hope you Embrace this new role with passion, purpose, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of youth engagement.” Bamalli said.
Bamalli expressed gratitude to all attendees, partners, and supporters who have contributed to the success of the inauguration noting that the association looks forward to working collaboratively with other stakeholders to amplify the voices of Nigerian youth on the global stage.
The core aims of UNYA-NG include to educate young people and the community about the work of the United Nations, to empower young people to get involved in international affairs and civil society and represent the views of young people at local, national and international levels while acting as forum for young people to network and socialize.
