HUMAN TRAFFICKING: “They Tell You Overseas BUT You May End Up In The Sea” – NACTAL

As part of her contribution to curb trafficking of persons in Nigeria, Network Against Child Trafficking Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), has organized a sensitization walk from Berger roundabout to NAPTIP office Abuja to commemorate the 2022World Day Against Human Trafficking.
Addressing clusters of Journalist, the FCT NACTAL Coordinator, Carol Shalom, expressed that Human Trafficking is a crime that exploits women, children and men for numerous purposes including forced labour and sex.
Shalom attributed poverty,insecurity, illiteracy and lack of employment as critical factors that has overtime led to the increase of human trafficking in Nigeria.
“They tell you overseas but you may end up in the sea.”
She added that men, women and children should be at alert as traffickers will be friendly before the border. Once you cross they become your enemy.
She urged Federal Government to deploy necessary assistance to CSOs in the fight against human trafficking in the country
