Hon. Bassey ends Rt Hon. Ayi’s 20 year stay at Green Chamber

The Deputy Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Joseph Bassey has defeated Rt. Hon. Essien Ayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency Election.

Hon. Bassey of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled a total of 23,885 votes to defeat Labour Party Candidate Dominic Aqua Ndem, who had 16,448 votes and the PDP candidate, Rt. Hon. Ayi, who got 14,448 votes.

Joseph Bassey, currently representing the people of Calabar South State Constituency in the Cross River 9th Assembly has therefore ended Essien Ayi’s 24-year reign (6th term) in the Federal House of Representatives.
