Hepatitis Advocates Seek Funding from Rev. Otu

A delegation of hepatitis advocates have paid a visit to the Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Rev. Mrs Eyoanwan Otu, to seek funding for pressing issues related to Hepatitis in the State.

The purpose of their visit was to discuss the challenges faced by hepatitis patients and to emphasize the urgent need for financial support to combat the disease effectively.

Rev. Bassey Otu, known for her commitment to healthcare initiatives, acknowledged the severity of the hepatitis crisis and pledged to work closely with the advocacy community during the upcoming medical outreach.

Rev. Otu who expressed her admiration for the dedication and efforts of the Hepatitis advocates emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, advocacy groups, and healthcare professionals to develop a comprehensive strategy that would effectively combat hepatitis in Cross River State.

The group which was led by the National Coordinator, Hepatitis Advocates Community, Mr Saint Michael Iwara, also comprised medical professionals, representatives from non-governmental organizations, and individuals directly impacted by Hepatitis.

Mr. Iwara highlighted the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the growing number of hepatitis cases and the lack of adequate resources to combat the disease effectively.

He further emphasized that the funding would be utilized to enhance awareness campaigns, prevention strategies, diagnosis, treatment, and support services for Hepatitis patients throughout Cross River State.

He also stressed the need to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to affordable diagnostic tests and medications. They highlighted the importance of early detection and comprehensive treatment to prevent the progression of Hepatitis-related complications and to improve the overall quality of life for affected individuals.

With the commitment of the Governor’s Wife and the collective efforts of the Hepatitis advocates, Cross River State is poised to take significant strides towards eradicating the disease and ensuring a healthier future for its residents.
