Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and former Governor of Jigawa State  has debunked claims that he lost his polling unit in the recent Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election in Jigawa State. According to the official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the minister’s polling unit, Babura Kofar Arewa Primary School — Polling Unit 002 (PU 002), with 188 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 164 votes.

Media Aide to the minister, Mati Ali, clarified that false online reports misidentified the polling unit as PU 001 and wrongly claimed he lost. They urged the public, party members, and the media to rely solely on yhe Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC), official declarations and disregard the spurious claims.

The INEC declaration of the Election Results stated that the All Progressive Congress had 188 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party secured
PDP 164 votes

However, other reports suggest a different outcome at Polling Unit 001 in the same area, where PDP secured 308 votes, and APC trailed with 112 votes. The discrepancy highlights the importance of accurate reporting and relying on official sources.
