FRSC Swift Response Averts Potential Tanker Explosion in Kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS1.1 Kaduna Sector Command, has successfully prevented a potentially catastrophic incident following a lone fuel tanker crash at the NEPA Roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, in the early hours of Sunday, 8th February, 2026.

At about 0715 hours, the Sector Command received a distress call reporting that a loaded fuel tanker had fallen at the location. In response, a rescue team from RS1.1 Kaduna, led by the Deputy Route Commander (DRC), I. Gunda, was immediately deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, FRSC personnel promptly secured the area by barricading all access roads leading to the crashed tanker in order to prevent secondary crashes and avert any possible fire outbreak.

Appropriate traffic diversion was immediately implemented to ensure smooth vehicular movement and reduce congestion within the Kaduna metropolis.

Personnel of the Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force are currently on ground, working in synergy with the FRSC to safeguard lives and property, as efforts continue to safely evacuate the fuel content and remove the tanker from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow.

No casualty was recorded as at the time of filing this report as the Federal Road Safety Corps commends members of the public and motorists for their cooperation and urges road users to remain calm, obey traffic instructions, and exercise patience while recovery operations are ongoing.

The Corps reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to proactive emergency response, effective traffic management, and the protection of lives and property on Nigerian roads.
