The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), for its continued commitment to road safety as the Corps unveiled the maiden edition of Safe Wheel Nigeria Magazine on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Abuja.
The Minister was represented at the event by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebiemfa.
In his goodwill message, Amb. Tuggar described the launch of the publication as a “significant milestone” in Nigeria’s pursuit of safer roads and secure communities. He congratulated the FRSC for what he called a “visionary initiative” aimed at enhancing public awareness and strengthening national efforts toward reducing road traffic crashes.
He emphasised that highway safety is an integral component of national security, noting that every life lost to road accidents represents a deep personal and national tragedy.
“For decades, the Federal Road Safety Corps has been at the forefront of this critical mission,” he said. “Your work in regulation, education, and emergency response has saved lives, preserved families, and protected our economic assets.”
The Minister further highlighted the importance of safe road networks to Nigeria’s broader foreign policy goals, including intra-African trade, tourism, regional integration, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Amb. Tuggar noted that the launch of Safe Wheel Nigeria aligns with global priorities, describing road safety as a universal concern and a key pillar of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He reaffirmed Nigeria’s active engagement in international platforms on transport safety and sustainable mobility.
According to him, the new magazine will serve as an ambassador of Nigeria’s commitment to global best practices by documenting local innovations, challenges, and success stories for both domestic and international stakeholders.
“Information is the bridge between policy and practice,” he said, stressing that the publication is more than a magazine but a strategic communication tool capable of educating citizens, engaging stakeholders, celebrating road safety advocates, and promoting a cultural shift toward responsible road use.
He assured the FRSC of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that drive national and international road safety goals.
The event marked a major step in FRSC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public enlightenment and enhance road safety advocacy across the country.
