FOOTBALL: RS Berkane wins CAF Confederations Cup

Morrocan Side RS Berkane ate the champions of the CAF Confederations Cup after they defeated Orlando Pirates of South Africa 5-4 on penalties at rgd the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Akwa-Ibom State on Friday, May 20, 2022.

The match ended in a stalemate after 90 minutes with two Extra time goals from Youssef El Fahli broke the deadlock from the spot kick and Thembinkosi Lorch restoring parity in a cagey final.

The match then went to penalties with Lorch missing the only kick despite ending the game as the Man of the Match and Berkane winning it after converting all of their five spot kicks.

It was a final that saw the 30,000 capacity Stadium filled to the brim after the Akwa-Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Udom Emmanuel purchasing all tickets for the finals thereby, allowing spectators watch the epochal event free of charge.
