FOOTBALL: Madrid crowned European Champions

La Liga giants and football powerhouse, Real Madrid won the 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League last night at the Parc Des Princes against Premier League side, Liverpool .

In a tense and cagey affair, it was a 59th minute goal by Brazilian sensation Vinicius Jr that settled the affair after Federico Valaverde had set him up to tap the ball into the open net.

Liverpool dominated the match and created big chances but Belgium Goalie, Thibaut Courtois had a night to remember as he pulled strings of great saves particular in the first half to deny the Liverpool attack.

Karim Benzema thought he had scored in the first half after the ball dropped kindly to him only for the goal to be chalked off for offside.

The result means that Liverpool, who at the beginning of the month had dreams of winning a historic quadruple ended the season with two titles after winning the English Football League Cup and the FA Cup.

It is officially title number 14 for Real Madrid and the Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has made history by becoming the first coach to win a four Champions League title.
