FOOTBALL: Falconets fly to the quarter finals

Esther Onyenezide scored an 83rd minute goal to give the Falconets of Nigeria a 1-0 victory against their South Korea counterparts at the ongoing FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Costa Rica.

The Chris Danjuma-led side showed dugged determination and skills to wade off attacks from the Asian side in a keenly contested match.

The win gives the girls 6 points in Group C thereby ensuring qualifications to the quarterfinals.

The team’s last group game will be against Canada on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

The Falconets are gunning for their first ever title after playing in two finals and losing both to Germany in 2010 and 2014.
