Flamengos thrash Turkish Club

Nigeria’s U17 girls, the Flamingos recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over leading Turkish women’s club, Galatasarary Women in a friendly match in the Turkish town of Kocaeli on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Opeyemi Ajakaye drew first blood in the 26th minute of the encounter with Edidiong Etim doubling the advantage eight minutes later.
Etim made Nigeria’s dominance pay with her second and the Flamingos’ third in the 77th minute after Ebru Topliv had reduced the deficit for Galatasaray just one minute before half time.

Coach Bankole Olowookebut praised the girls for their competitive spirit in the match which they won 3-1 and is confident this would be a positive for the team’s campaign at the FIFA World Cup finals.

Up next for the Flamingos will be a match against Germany in their first match of the campaign in Goa on Tuesday, 11th October.

The girls arrived on Tuesday for a 10-day training camp ahead of this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in India.
