The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has reaffirmed its commitment to improving passenger experience and strengthening protocol operations through closer collaboration with airline operators across the country’s airports.
This was highlighted during an interactive meeting held on Thursday, 21 May 2026, between the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, and members of the Airline Operators Committee (AOC) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The engagement provided a platform for both FAAN and airline operators to deliberate on critical operational matters and areas of mutual interest aimed at enhancing service delivery.
Addressing stakeholders at the meeting, Mr. Agbebire explained that the engagement was designed to build a more effective working relationship between airline operators and the Department of Protocol and Passages.
He reiterated that FAAN, working in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, remains the statutory authority responsible for coordinating protocol services at Nigerian airports. According to him, closer cooperation with airlines is essential to ensure smooth coordination and efficient handling of protocol-related services.
The Director further appealed to airline operators to prioritise FAAN Protocol arrangements by facilitating swift processing at check-in counters whenever protocol services are required. He assured participants that the Authority remains committed to constructive engagements that will improve operational standards and customer satisfaction.
During the session, representatives of the airlines raised several operational concerns affecting airport efficiency and passenger convenience. These included inadequate airport signage, faulty and insufficient lifts, transportation challenges involving staff buses, and poor airport road markings. They also called for improved collaboration to further enhance customer experience.
Responding to the concerns, Mr. Agbebire assured the airline operators that all issues raised would receive due attention, noting that FAAN is committed to reviewing the observations with the aim of strengthening service delivery and improving operational efficiency across the nation’s airports.
