EU EOM to present initial assessment of governorship, states Assembly election March 11

The Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), Maria Arena, will present the EU EOMs initial assessment of the governorship and State House of Assembly elections at a press conference on Monday 11 March.
According to the Press and Public Outreach Officer, Sarah Fradgley, the mission will also give its assessment of the collation of results process for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The European Union deployed an Election Observation Mission after an invitation from the Independent National Electoral Commission. The EU has observed all general elections in Nigeria since 1999.
The missions mandate is to observe all aspects of the electoral process and assess the extent to which the elections comply with international and regional commitments for elections, as well as with national legislation.
A core team of 11 election experts arrived in Nigeria on 5 January. Forty long-term observers were deployed across the country on 21 January. On election day on 9 March, 70 EU observers followed voting, counting and collation processes across Nigeria. The mission will remain in Nigeria until the beginning of April.
The EUOM had invited all media to attend the event which holds on Monday 11, 2019 at Nasarawa/Ogun room (Level 02), Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
