EID AL-FITR: IMO SA DIASPORA FELICITATES WITH MUSLIMS; Calls for Spirit of tolerance

The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Diaspora Affairs in Nigeria, Hon. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert has felicitated with Muslims in the country and across the Diaspora, wishing all a happy Eid celebration.

The respectable Igbo Chief who took to her personal social media handle today the Thursday, 13th of May tweeted “I was born and bred in Northern part of Nigeria and do as a result have several close muslim  friends; here in the U.K I’ve also made friends with a number of thoughtful, reliable and kind muslim colleagues. So today I want to wish everyone of them & their families Happy Eid.”

Eid-al-Fitr is a religious celebration by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting (Ramadan). Muslim community celebrates this festival with great enthusiasm across the world. Although Imolites are predominantly Christians, we have a few converts. We also have several of our Muslim brothers and Sisters Resident in Imo and contributing to the socioeconomic legacies of our State. “They are technically Diasporans” SA DIASPORA stated.

She said that the Imo Diaspora Office understands the intricacies of living away from home and for this reason encourages all Muslims living in Imo to feel at home.

“The Imo Diaspora  Office also understands that due to the Coronavirus pandemic some may not be able to travel to celebrate with friends and relatives. So we collectively wish you peace, prosperity and pray for mercy upon you and your families wherever and however you celebrate this year’s Eid”, she expressed

Governor Uzodimma’s Aide on Diaspora also seized the opportunity to advocate for tolerance and peaceful coexistence, whilst reminiscing, she stated that Imolites in Diaspora are visitors of other states and countries so we understand the challenges of Diasporans hence we encourage peaceful coexistence and equal opportunities. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert hibbert ended with sharing a quote by Albert Einstein: “Laws alone can not secure freedom of expression; in order that every man present his views without penalty there must be a spirit of tolerance in the entire population”.
