EGUAVOEN RESIGNS AS INTERIM COACH

Emmanuel Alfred

Austin Eguavoen has stepped down from his role as the Super Eagles Manager, a position he handled on an interim basis.

Following a disappointing qualifiers where Nigeria failed to book a place at the Fifa World Cup in November and a poor outing at the African Cup of Nations where the team was knocked out by Tunisia in the quarter finals, Eguavoen thought it wise to vacate the position that was vacant since the sack of German tactician, Gernot Rohr.

Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro was hired to replace the German but Eguavoen was brought into handle the team through the Qualifiers and the AFCON.

He (Eguavoen), will be returning to his previous position as the Director of the National Team while a decision will be made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
