EFCC arrests woman leader, others for alleged vote buying

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Saturday, March 18 arrested a Women Leader of one of the political parties contesting the election and three others in Cross Cross River State over alleged vote buying.
Newsdotafrica learned that the Women Leader named Esther Asuquo Edem was arrested in an uncompleted building in Ward 11 in Calabar South Local Government Area of the state.
The others arrested were Edet Okon Etim, Asanwana Peter Eyo, and one other whose name was not given at press time – were also arrested at differing polling units still in the Calabar metropolis.
According to a statement by the EFCC spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujiare the trio were arrested by the team from Uyo Zonal Command, led by CE Binta A. Rano, and are currently volunteering their statements at the Criminal Investigation Department, Cross River State Police Command.
“The Woman Leader, who had a list of suspected voters, their account numbers and Thousands of Naira in cash was apprehended inside an uncompleted building, beside her Ward in Calabar South, while Etim and Eyo were arrested at Ward 12, Unit 11, at Kings Memorial School by Inyang Street, Abasi Obori, Calabar South.
The duo of Etim and Eyo had with them their own lists and money they allegedly used in buying votes” the statement said.
