Defence Minister Visits Kebbi to Boost Troop Morale and Security

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, paid an operational visit to Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on May 8, 2025, to assess ongoing military operations and boost the morale of troops stationed at Dukku Barracks. The visit aimed to instill a positive fighting spirit among soldiers to tackle insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the North West.

The Minister commended the troops’ professional competence, courage, and sacrifice, conveying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s deep appreciation for their efforts in ensuring peace across the nation.

Abubakar assessed the progress of military operations against banditry and other crimes, urging troops to double their efforts to end all forms of insecurity.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the troops, prioritizing their welfare and expressing confidence that the security situation would soon be contained.

When asked if they were ready to end insecurity, the troops responded with a resounding “Yes! Sir!”, demonstrating their unity and determination.


This visit demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving security and promoting economic growth in the region. Recently, the Minister had also visited Borno State to assess the security situation and meet with the state governor, showcasing the government’s efforts to address insecurity nationwide.
