The Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting families of fallen military personnel following a meeting with Mr. Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, in Abuja.

Brigadier General Braimah, a senior Infantry Officer of the Nigerian Army and Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, died in active service at Benisheikh on April 9, 2026. He was buried with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15 alongside seven other personnel who lost their lives in service.

During the visit to the Ministry of Defence, Hassan Braimah recalled the late officer’s dedication and sacrifice to national service, expressing pride in his brother’s legacy and assuring continued family support for those he left behind.
Responding, General Musa conveyed the condolences of the Ministry and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family, stressing that the military institution would continue to stand by relatives of officers and soldiers who paid the supreme price in defence of the nation.

“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country,” the minister stated, adding that the Ministry remains committed to providing assistance, care, and direct access to affected families whenever necessary.

The meeting highlighted the Federal Government’s recognition of the sacrifices made by military personnel and its determination to preserve their legacy through sustained support for their families.
