One will wonder what the connection is with Penn Ward Wolverhampton and Imo State but look no further as the Candidate selected, Celia Hibbert is also a household name in Imo Politics.

Hon. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert became the Debut Special Adviser on Diaspora Affairs under the current 3R Government Imo State and well known for  her unrivalled commitment to women and disability issues. SA Diaspora as fondly known in Imo is no stranger in the political realm in United Kingdom. She is a current Councillor for the said Penn seat for a 4 year term and will now be defending this seat in May this year. She was also a Parliamentary Candidate for the last U.K General elections in 2009.

Our reporter captured the young politician’s statement about emerging victorious in the Primaries. She wrote on her personal social media account:

“CONGRATULATIONS to me! Last night, the 5th of January 2021, I got selected to stand as the Penn (Labour) Candidate for the  forthcoming Local Elections in May 2022. As you know my current 4 years tenure as ‘Penn Councillor’ will come to an end in May.

To be selected 4 years ago was a proud moment; to be re-selected last night is rather a humbling moment of affirmation that the good I (we) achieved over the 4 years superseded the mistakes I may have made as humans would occasionally do.

My Father (a renowned Community Champion) said to me this African Adage: Uzor dimma agaya ugoro abuö. This generally means; when One travels using a particular route, they tend to use it again if it is a good route. “So be proud my daughter that you’re re-selected”…

Therefore with a heart filled with pride and a soul full of commitment, I want to thank everyone who continues to support me both online and physically. A Special thanks also goes to all Penn Members for putting your faith in me again.

The next 4 years will be more difficult than the last but in me you have certainly found someone who values nothing more than Community Service, this has always been my unrelenting motivation.

I shall end by not saying “let the hard work begin” but by saying “let the hard work continue.

Thank you, thank you and God bless”, said concluded
