The Independent National Electoral Commission, Cross River State says it has commenced what it calls, ‘rotational’ Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the State, Dr. Cyril Omorogbe said it is geared at allowing more eligible citizens gain access to registration centres.
The exercise will see registration taken to the Ward levels across the State and will see the total number of Registration Centres increase up to 212 in the State.
According to breakdown by the REC the exercise will be carried out in 193 wards and 18 area offices and the INEC State headquarters, totalling 212.
All Nigerian citizens 18 years and above are eligible for the exercise and the statement urged , “eligible voters and registered voters to take advantage of the newly created Polling Units to transfer their voting points closer to their homes in order to avoid trekking long distances to cast their votes on Election Day and also to decongest the Polling Units.”
The Commission also advised those who pre-registered online to “complete their registration physically within the given date, if they wish to vote in the 2023 general elections.”
